A Dark Night, A New Morn

When I originally went and saw Dark Knight Rises last night, I thought that today I would be writing my thoughts on this movie. However, within moments of the movie ending and twitter being opened… this didn’t seem quite as appropriate as before.  What was supposed the triumphant culmination of an incredible trilogy, instead was turned into a tragic event. What was supposed to be the hero rising from the darkness, was instead a madman plunging lives into the dark.

During dark times like these we must remember that there is one thing that will always overcome darkness… light. As people face shattered lives and loss of loved ones, the world rallies around them. One evil maniac has brought out the good in millions of people as they support those dealing with this tragedy in Aurora, CO. We send out thoughts, prayers, and support to those in Aurora, CO.

We pray that the story of one madman brings to light many more stories of heroism during this dark event. We hope that though this event shows the worst of humanity, it also ends up showing the best of humanity as well. For every real life villain, there are dozens of heroes.

For every dark night, there is a morning. This newest Batman trilogy is all about hope. The hope that though things are horrific and dark, goodness and light will overcome. I pray that as we struggle with this tragedy, this is the lesson that can be learned. I pray that through the grief, hope can be found. I hope that the memories of every person who was lost last night will be honored and their tragic loss turned into a movement for good and a message of hope.
